“What are YOU doing for YOUR SELF outside of work?”

So how have things been with you this last month?  

I hope that you’re all ready for the Autumn – having hopefully discovered  which of the S.A.D. remedies from Hi-EFT in April this year are for you.  Personally I like using the colour ORANGE in earrings, scarves, brooches for me, hi-light pens, paper, ties and cuff-links for men.

In November I’m in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, England for a week as it’s the Soroptimist International Federation Conference.  And I really look forward to events such as this – it’s a wonderful opportunity where hundreds and thousands of women get together from all around the world.   The reason I’m mentioning this is that ALL of us need some interest outside of work – to balance our lives.  Else Jill/Jack can be a dull gal/boy.

So just what’s your outside of work interest?

Evening classes have started at lots of local colleges, New Year is looming up in a couple of months: both ideal opportunities for YOU to re-assess your outside interests.

Helping others by sponsoring me

Many of us 'help others' by keeping in touch with them by sending a card, or nowadays sending a text, send a letter (a bit old-fashioned yet still nice to receive), be email.  Even nicer still is by speaking directly with them by telephone or the best is to visit them and speak to them in person. 

However, these people we are helping are people we know personally.  What about helping people we don't know? 

In the UK we have tv adverts about being a blood-donor and helping people anonymously that way.  We can drop a few coins into the collecting tin for whichever organisation is collecting in the shopping precinct today.  However what about sponsoring someone to help a worthwhile organisation to research into the causes and eradication of Cancer? 

I have decided, for the second year on the trot, to join with my 'sisters' in Soroptimist International* Midland East Region (I am also their president this year aswell) to raise funds on behalf of Cancer Research UK.  I shall be 'trotting' with about 3,000 other Race-for-Lifers - all women - on Sunday 18th June 2006 at Loughborough University, England.  So if you would also like to help a very worthwhile cause - Cancer Research - and feel like sponsoring me, a few pounds or dollars will help tremendously - then please go to the link in the left column.  Thank you - Cancer Research can help not only us, it can AND IS helping future generations too.  Let's get ride of cancer - starting NOW.
